About Tara Mazurk

Tara Mazurk is an emerging artist who lives and works in the Ottawa and Outaouais region. Her process involves layering and removing graphite through broad, sweeping movement and deliberate detail to reveal natural, subtle spaces.

Her work is inspired by intersections with other creative disciplines including sculpture, choreography and curating, and is further influenced by discourse around site-specificity, institutional critique, Canadian landscape, and spirituality. In addition to her contemporary drawing practice, Tara works on nature illustration projects in collaboration with storytellers, authors and researchers.

Tara has over 10 years experience as an arts manager and artistic producer. She began her career as a staff curator and contemporary art collector for Humber College, where she managed numerous exhibitions and launched the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre which focuses on heritage, community-based and educational programming.

In addition to her work at PAF, Tara is a federal government relations consultant for the arts. She works exclusively with arts and culture organizations to develop and sustain government policies and practices that support creators and creativity within our communities.

She holds a BA (Hons) Specialist degree in Arts Management and a Minor in Studio Art from the University of Toronto. During her studies, Tara directed and exhibited in a number of shows and festivals.
