Exploring the results of artist residencies
PAF invites members of the public to consider the ways in which artist residencies can have a positive impact on local communities. Please join us for a residency focused weekend, consisting of panel discussions, an art exhibit, a fundraising dance party, refreshments, a presentation, and a celebration of the work from a mini residency with artist Milo Flores.
Creating the framework, facilities and accessing the funding streams that will allow PAF to become a landing and launch pad for future residencies has become a priority at Place des Artistes de Farrellton. We welcome you to join the discussion and learn more!

ART OF THE LAND: The Living and the Link
There are many reasons why artists want to live in the Gatineau Hills. There is an ecosystem of makers and creative practitioners living on and with this land. Co-curated by Geneviève Cloutier, Andie Haltrich, Hannah Ranger and Patrick Thompson, this exhibit asks: what can we learn from each other in transdisciplinary spaces and how? How can creativity, practices and objects that are not usually included in art institutions inspire community building and generative systems of exchange? How can these encounters create positive change?
This exhibit is a collaborative and community-based experiment and engagement. Contributors include Geneviève Cloutier, Maura Doyle, Névé Dumas & Coco Simone Finken, Mary Ellis, Andie Haltrich, Elizabeth Logue, Ariane Roberge, Philip Cohen, Abby Karos, Robyn Read, Danielle Schami, Charlotte Scott, Doreen Stevens, Ron Tenasco, Owen Tuf, Ilse Turnsen, & Samuel De La Cruz.
RESIDENCIES ACROSS CANADA
A short presentation by PAF board member Patrick Thompson. Artist residencies provide artists, scholars, educators and other creative professionals with time, space and resources to work, individually or collectively, on the research and development of their practice. These residencies can take on many shapes and forms, from the very structured to the loose and nomadic.
PANEL DISCUSSION
PAF member Dr. Geneviève Cloutier will moderate a discussion after short presentations by panellists who will share their experiences and thoughts about residencies in local, National and International contexts. This panel will inform people about how residencies can impact art, culture, and the broader community at large. After the discussion, audience and panellists will be invited to participate in a collaborative artistic visioning session that will be held in smaller groups. Participants will have various art materials to dream about the possibilities of what residencies can be and what that can look like at PAF.

MINI RESIDENCY AND WORKSHOP
Milo Flores (b.1984 Quezon City, Philippines ) Will be installing and inhabiting a portion of PAF's gymnasium with a collection of his monumental monochromatic drawings for his 3 day residency at PAF. Milo invites visitors to assist him in growing the installation organically and participating in his process from 2-5pm on Saturday.
Milo Flores’ art installation invites us to engage with how space and identity are interwoven. Through an artist talk and interactive workshop, his work will inspire, fuel and allow us to linger on a collaborative inquiry about the myriad possibilities of an artist residency.
Milo Flores is a visual and relational artist currently based in Montreal. His work explores the interconnections between one's self to communities that we build and join, and the larger society that makes up the world. This practice also intends to emphasize the importance that making art has in helping express and improve our human condition. He received his bachelor of fine arts from Concordia University in 2016, and has been working as printmaker at Studio PM since 2017. Milo is also a founding member of Polymorph, an ephemeral art collective that engages the public with outdoor art activities and interventions

Explorer les effets des résidences d'artistes
La PAF invite les membres du public à déterminer de quelles façons les résidences d'artistes influent positivement sur les communautés locales. Venez assister à un week-end centré sur la résidence d’artistes avec des tables rondes, une exposition d'art, une soirée dansante-collecte de fonds, des rafraîchissements, une présentation et une célébration post-résidence en compagnie de l'artiste Milo Flores.
La Place des Artistes de Farrellton est devenue une rampe d'atterrissage et de lancement pour de futures résidences. Sa mission consiste à établir le cadre, fournir les installations et assurer le financement permettant de les réaliser. Venez vous joindre à la discussion et en savoir plus!

L’ART DE LA TERRE: vivre et y appartenir (une exposition d’art transdisciplinaire)
Des artistes vivent dans les collines de la Gatineau pour plusieurs raisons. Cette région abrite un écosystème de créateurs qui vivent en harmonie sur un terroir communal. Cette exposition, organisée par Geneviève Cloutier, Andie Haltrich, Hannah Ranger et Patrick Thompson, pose la question suivante : que pouvons-nous apprendre les uns des autres et comment ? Et de quelle manière? Comment se peut-il que la créativité, omise de manière générale dans les curriculums des établissements artistiques, mène au développement de collectivités et aux systèmes d’échange générationnel? Comment ces rencontres peuvent-elles créer des changements positifs?
Cette exposition est une expérience et un engagement collaboratifs et communautaires. Les résidences d'artistes offrent aux artistes, universitaires, éducateurs et autres professionnels de la création le temps, l'espace et les ressources pour travailler, individuellement ou collectivement, sur la recherche et le développement de leur pratique. Ces résidences peuvent prendre de nombreuses formes, des plus structurées aux plus libres et nomades.
TABLE RONDE (in English only)
Après une suite de courtes présentations de panélistes sur les résidences d’artistes dans des contextes locaux, nationaux et internationaux, Dre Geneviève Cloutier, membre de la PAF, animera une discussion. Ce panel informera les gens sur la manière dont les résidences peuvent avoir une incidence sur l'art, la culture et la communauté dans son ensemble. Ensuite, le public et les panélistes sont invités à participer à une séance de vision artistique collaborative qui se déroulera en petits groupes. Les participants disposeront de matériel d’artiste varié afin qu’ils puissent imaginer certains aspects de la nature et la fonction des résidences de la PAF.

MINI RÉSIDENCE ET ATELIER (workshop is in English only)
Pour sa résidence de trois jours à la PAF, Milo Flores (né en 1984 à Quezon City aux Philippines) s’installera dans une partie du gymnase de la PAF et y habitera en compagnie d’une collection de dessins monochromes énormes de son cru. Le samedi de 14 h à 17 h, Milo invite les visiteurs à faire partie de son processus créatif en l'aidant à agrandir son installation de manière organique.
Cette installation artistique soulève la question de l’entrelacement inévitable de l’espace et l’identité. Grâce à une conférence d'artistes et un atelier interactif, son travail inspirera les participants et les incitera à se questionner tous ensemble sur le potentiel énorme de la résidence d'artistes.
Milo Flores est un artiste visuel et relationnel actuellement basé à Montréal. Son travail explore les interconnexions entre l’individu, les communautés qu’ils forment et la vaste société qui compose notre monde. Cette pratique vise également à souligner le rôle crucial de la création artistique dans l’expression et l’amélioration de notre condition humaine. Il a obtenu son baccalauréat en beaux-arts de l'Université Concordia en 2016 et travaille comme graveur au Studio PM depuis 2017. Milo est également membre fondateur de Polymorph, un collectif d'art éphémère qui mobilise le public au moyen d’activités et d’interventions artistiques en plein air.
