" This is what I can tell you. The August sky is vast, blue, and cloudless. It's the kind of afternoon that reminds me of a long unraveling thread. I'm fourteen, I'm wearing a red flannel shirt and a pair of cut-off jean shorts that I cut with my mom's kitchen scissors."
